The Waikato Classic Motorcycle Club Inc.
WHO ARE WE?
Currently in its 30th Anniversary year, the Waikato Classic Motorcycle Club is made up of people interested in the use, preservation and restoration of all motorcycles makes over 30 years old as at the Club's annual AGM date. Members come from throughout the upper North Island, and represent all age groups and walks of life. The club is family orientated with spouses and partners welcome. Bikes range from veteran and vintage through to the mid 70's.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Club activities include:
Monthly Meetings. Held at the Beerescourt Bowling Club Rooms, Maeroa Road Hamilton, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. Together with normal Club business and activity information, the meetings are an opportunity for an informal get-together where we have guest speakers on a variety of interesting subjects.
Club Runs. These are usually on the last Sunday of the month. We organise a variety of outings during the year, with some specifically for the older and smaller bikes. Usually we ride to places of interest around the greater Waikato area, accompanied when required by a support vehicle (and lots of know-how) in case of breakdowns.
Have a look at the Events page for the next CLUB RUN....and join us for a ride!
Newsletter. The monthly newsletter keeps you informed about club activities and happenings up and down the country. This can be provided via email or in hard copy form either at the Monthly Club Meeting or directly mailed.
Rallies. We support rallies run by other Classic Clubs in the central North Island and mount an expeditions to the bi-annual National Classic Mototcycle Rally and other One Make Club events throughout NZ.
Swap Meet. The Club has run a motorcycle-only swapmeet for the past 28 years! This has grown into NZ's largest all motorcycle swap and is held during April each year in Hamilton City. A portion of the funds raised by these events are donated to a Charity.
Inter-Club BBQ. The Waikato Club hosts the interclub BBQ each year in conjunction with Tauranga and Rotorua Classic Clubs. Club Runs are made to reciprocal BBQ's held with each of these sister clubs.
Other events. There are many other social events from time to time, again with a family emphasis. Also the Club organises a major Tour each year, alternating between the North and South Islands. Motorcycle Touring as a large droup, sometimes with a group of up to 42 members, to the South Island is a key feature on the Club's Calendar - its loads of fun! We have now been touring for over 20 years!
DO I NEED A CLASSIC BIKE TO JOIN?
No. Anyone can join. If you have a classic bike you will meet plenty of helpful people with advice, expertise, parts, etc. You will be able to get your bike out on the road with company and support if you need it. If you are looking for a bike, there's usually someone who can help. Don’t worry if your bike isn't immaculate - our emphasis is on its safe use and enjoyment.
